If
you aren't with the Port of New Orleans, why are you running this
site?
Everyone in the area benefits with the success of the Port. It is my goal to simply assist with the growth of the Port in my
own way.
Isn't the official site enough?
Actually, the official site is quite good. The problem is that
people have a problem locating it and the hosting performance
of the site could be a bit better. I am hoping that by handling
some of the more frequently asked questions that the Port would
get, I can help the site perform better. Also, by not being a
political player, I am unfettered by Parrish, State or other issues
and can provide simple straight-forward information. Lastly, I
can provide other information, such as about area entertainment,
that just doesn't hit the port's radar.
What is your angle?
Actually, there is little to this. I don't take any money from
anyone for listings, etc. Maybe someday in the future I might
do something like that, but I don't like the idea of making a
lot of money off the name of the Port of New Orleans. In fact,
I'd be happy if everyone would just use this page to go straight
to the official site. As long as it doesn't cost me anything and
I can benefit, it's a good thing. I hope that someday this will
result in something good. It's more of a Karma type thing. The
Google ads may be able to pay for the hosting, and that'd be enough.
Can I link to your site?
You can, but I'd rather you link to the official Port site. I
don't have banners and feel that such banners would be inappropriate
as it may indicate some sort of authority from the Port of New
Orleans. This is an UNOFFICIAL site and nothing should ever imply
anything else.
How do I get you to link to me?
I don't link to too many companies. Usually they either have something
directly to do with the Port and the Port will benefit by my linking
to them or they are charities, clients of ours or even have something directly relating to us. None of these should have any negative reflection on the port.
